FAQs

GORE CleanStream Filters should only be used on the specific wet/dry vacuum model they are designed to fit.  We have not tested the filter for other applications and cannot make any claims or assumptions in regards to performance.  We DO NOT recommend retrofitting our CleanStream filters on any other wet/dry vacuum or dust collection system than it was originally designed to fit.  Doing so will void your product warranty.

For the GORE CleanStream Pro Filters which are fully washable, this will depend upon use.   To restore optimum airflow, we recommend removing the filter and tapping the end cap against a hard surface to loosen debris.  Additional debris can be removed by rinsing the outside surface of the filter with running water.  Avoid dampening of the inside of the filter and allow the filter to completely air dry after washing before next use.

*If you have a standard GORE CleanStream Filter, it is only recommended for dry-use only and is not meant to be used for wet applications or rinsed with water.

IMPORTANT: DO NOT BRUSH OR USE COMPRESSED AIR TO CLEAN THE FILTER.   Do not use abrasive materials or scrub to clean between the pleats.   This will permanently damage the filter’s ability to stop fine dust and will void the 1-year limited warranty.

For the GORE CleanStream Pro Filters, which are fully washable, you can typically pick up wet or dry particles without issue and do not have to wait.   If however, you pick up cement or drywall dust, then pick up water, you'll need to immediately clean and rinse both the filter and inside of the vacuum to prevent the cement or drywall dust from hardening into concrete or a “mud-like” substance that cannot be easily removed.

*If you have a standard CleanStream Filter, it is only recommended for dry-use only and is not meant to be used for wet applications or rinsed with water.

For older wet/dry vacuum models that have been discontinued, most likely, we will NOT produce replacement filters for these vacuums because it would be cost prohibitive due to low volumes and consumer demand for the product.

If you have a newer wet/dry vacuum model and our current filter offering does not meet their needs, please send your inquiry to cleanstream@wlgore.com and we will record your e-mail address in our customer database. Should the product become available in the future, we will notify you via e-mail to let you know.

Is the filter clogged with dust? If so, remove the filter and tap the end cap against a hard surface to loosen debris.  Additional debris can be removed by rinsing the outside surface of the filter with running water.  Vacuum suction and filter performance should recover as usual.

Allow the filter to completely air dry before next use and the vacuum suction and filter performance should recover as usual.

These materials will "wet-out" our filter media and allow water to pass through the filter media.  It will also damage the filter's ability to be cleaned and reused, and will void the 1-year limited product warranty.  If this occurs, the filter will need to be replaced.

Gore does not provide rubber gaskets or wing nuts for the Craftsman RED or RIDGID HEPA replacement filters. If you do not have the original filter nut that came with your vacuum, you can obtain the parts at:

We DO NOT recommend that the GORE CleanStream Filters be used in conjunction with a typical wet/dry vacuum to pick up ANY hazardous materials.  These consumer wet/dry vacuums may have leaking hoses, or other connections that could contaminate the air.  Any GORE CleanStream Filter that was used for hazardous material pick-up will void the 1-year limited warranty and should be properly disposed of.

Any hazardous materials should be collected with equipment specifically engineered for these applications.  You should contact a mold remediation contractor. These specialists are licensed by the state you live in and educated in the safest, most efficient ways to eliminate mold from your home. Never try to tackle a mold problem by yourself. Failure to call in the pros not only reduces your chances of getting rid of the mold, but it puts your health at risk, as well.

We do NOT recommend vacuuming up soapy water or other liquids containing high levels of surfactants / solvents.  These materials can "wet-out" our filter media and allow water to pass through the filter media.  It will also damage the filter's ability to be cleaned and reused and will void the 1-year limited product warranty.
